Teachable offers four premium pricing plans, each with a different monthly cost: $59, $159, $249 and $665. If you opt for an annual payment, you’ll receive a 33% discount.
A complimentary plan can be accessed, however, a small transaction fee of $1 plus 10% of the sale price will be applied to each purchase. The Basic plan also carries a transaction fee of 5%.
Exploring Teachable Pricing Options

You have the option to pay for your plans on a monthly or yearly basis, with the latter offering a 33% discount, making it a more beneficial choice.

Teachable Transaction Fees
Upon initial review, Teachable’s pricing structure appears simple and transparent. However, a closer inspection reveals that the free plan comes with hidden costs, while the Basic plan carries a higher price tag than initially anticipated.
Free | Basic | Pro | Pro+ | Business | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Fees | $1 + 10% | 5% | 0% | 0% | 0% |
Both plans incur transaction fees:
- Free Plan: $1 + 10% of the transaction value as a fee
- Basic Plan: 5% of the transaction value as a fee
If you’re planning to offer free products on Teachable, the fees won’t be a problem. However, if you intend to sell your products, the costs will quickly accumulate.
The Pro plan and above comes with a convenient perk: no transaction fees. However, if you created your school prior to 2018 while on the Pro plan, there’s a minor catch – you’ll still be subject to a 2% transaction fee. On the bright side, you’ll get Teachable’s valuable add-on service, Teachable BackOffice, absolutely free!
Teachable Processing Fees
Teachable Pay and Monthly Payment Gateway | |
---|---|
U.S credit & debit card sales | 2.9% + 30¢ |
International credit & debit card sales | 3.9% + 30¢ |
U.S PayPal sales | 3.49% + 49¢ |
International PayPal sales | 4.99% + 49¢ |
Chargeback fee | $15 |
BackOffice fee (optional) | 2-2.8% |
Buy Now Pay Later | 6.99% + 30¢ |
Keep in mind that in addition to the transaction fees mentioned above, there are also processing fees associated with using Teachable’s integrated payment processor, “Teachable:pay”. These processing fees apply to all Teachable plans, regardless of whether a transaction fee is required or not.
In the United States, credit and debit card transactions will be subject to a fee of 30 cents, plus an additional 2.9% of the total sale amount. For international transactions, the fee is 30 cents, plus 3.9% of the sale amount.
The fees for processing payments through our platform are similar to those charged by PayPal or Stripe. However, if you’re on a free or Basic plan, adding these fees on top of the existing transaction fees may result in higher overall costs compared to upgrading to a higher plan.
Teachable Free Plan
For a total of $1 plus a 10% transaction fee, you can enjoy a variety of features to help you sell your products, including a no-code course builder and web pages, student referrals, and integrated payment processing through Teachable:pay. Additionally, you’ll receive one published product of each type (course, coaching, downloads) and one admin and author seat to help you manage your business.
The complimentary plan comes with restrictions, most notably the cap of ten students. This limitation can make it difficult to provide free courses as the limit is easily met.
With the free plan, you’ll be unable to remove the Teachable branding from your creations, and you’ll also be charged a significant transaction fee for every sale made.
Additionally, the platform lacks several crucial elements, including quizzes, course completion certificates, content dripping, coupons, upsells, order bumps and other key features.
Although the free plan has its limitations, it still provides a valuable chance to experiment with the features and get a sense of whether Teachable is a good fit for your needs.
Who Is the Teachable Free Plan for?
The free plan offered by Teachable is ideal for individuals who want to explore the platform’s features without any financial commitment. It’s also a great starting point for those who are new to course creation and want to test the waters before upgrading to a paid plan.
This plan isn’t suitable for individuals who aim to generate revenue through selling courses, as it offers insufficient resources and support for that purpose.
Is the Teachable Free Plan Worth It?
We believe that free plans are a valuable opportunity because they come with no obligations or costs.
The complimentary plan offers a robust foundation, but users will eventually need to upgrade to a paid plan to unlock the platform’s full potential.
Teachable Basic Plan
Enjoy a range of features to enhance your business, including a 5% transaction fee, publication of five products per type (course, coaching, downloads), a single membership tier, integrated email marketing, coupons and order bumps. You’ll also have access to custom domains, live group coaching, and accelerator challenge access.
Upgrading from the free plan, the Basic plan provides enhanced functionality and additional tools, yet still imposes a 5% transaction fee.
The upgraded plan offers several significant enhancements, including the ability to utilize a personalized domain, accommodate an unlimited number of students, and take advantage of sales-boosting features such as order bumps and coupons. Moreover, you can now integrate with third-party applications and communicate with your existing students via email.
The entry-level plan grants you access to create basic quizzes, yet it lacks the functionality to assess and grade them. Additionally, the starter plan does not provide the ability to issue or utilize course completion certificates.
The Basic plan offers a superior level of support compared to the free plan, which is limited to email assistance. With the Basic plan, you can benefit from live group coaching, access to the Launch Accelerator, and membership in the Teachable community. However, live chat support remains unavailable unless you opt for a higher tier plan.
Who Is the Teachable Basic Plan for?
The Basic plan is a great starting point for anyone looking to monetize their courses, regardless of their level of expertise or the number of products they want to create. With its unlimited student capability, it’s perfect for those who are just starting out or who have a small audience, as well as those who are ready to scale their course creation and student reach.
The plan may not be the best option for individuals who anticipate selling a high volume of goods due to the 5% transaction fee and other restrictions.
Is the Teachable Basic Plan Worth It?
To determine if the Basic plan is a viable option, compare the cost of your subscription and transaction fees to the cost of the Pro plan. If the Basic plan is more cost-effective, it may be worth sticking with it for now.
As your business expands, you’ll soon surpass the limitations of this plan and seek to upgrade to a more comprehensive package, eliminating additional charges and unlocking all features to support your growing needs.
Teachable Pro Plan
The Pro plan now offers more features, no transaction fees:
Enjoy a free transaction fee, 50 published products per type (course, coaching, downloads), unlimited membership tiers, affiliate marketing, live chat support, upsells to increase order value, public API access, removable branding and 5 admin & author seats.
With the Pro plan, Teachable offers a wealth of practical features that enhance the user experience. This plan includes useful tools such as graded quizzes, certificates, upsells and live chat support. Most significantly, the Pro plan allows you to create a customized, unbranded website that reflects your unique brand and identity.
The variety of products you can offer within each category increases substantially, going from five to 50. This means you now have a total of 150 possibilities to generate revenue across courses, coaching, digital downloads and all their combinations.
Who Is the Teachable Pro Plan for?
The Pro plan is tailored for individuals who desire to offer their customers a personalized and branded experience. Additionally, it caters to course creators who seek to expand their business and generate a substantial income.
Is the Teachable Pro Plan Worth It?
With the Pro plan, you’ll enjoy the advantage of avoiding extra transaction fees, making it a worthwhile investment, particularly if you’re experiencing a healthy sales volume.
Teachable Pro+ Plan
Enjoy a transaction fee of zero percent, a diverse selection of 200 courses, 200 coaching products, 200 digital downloads and 200 product bundles. Additionally, customize your user roles to suit your needs.
The primary distinction between the Pro and Pro+ plans lies in the expanded capabilities they offer. While both plans share many similarities, the Pro+ plan stands out with its increased product creation capacity and the addition of custom user roles. Beyond that, the two plans are largely identical.
Who Is the Teachable Pro+ Plan for?
Looking to exceed your product creation limits on the Pro plan? Upgrade to Pro+ and unlock unlimited possibilities!
Is the Teachable Pro+ Plan Worth It?
The Teachable Pro+ plan is only beneficial if you plan to create a substantial amount of learning products. If you’re content with the limits of the Pro plan and don’t need to exceed them, upgrading to Pro+ would not be a worthwhile investment.
Teachable Business Plan
Enjoy a wealth of educational resources, including unlimited courses, coaching products, and digital downloads, to help you achieve your goals. Benefit from advanced theme customizations, custom user roles, and bulk student enrollment, all managed by 20 admin and author seats.
With this Teachable plan, you’ll have access to unlimited products and advanced customizations, plus, you’ll receive top-notch priority support.
Consider that the cost of this plan increases substantially compared to the Pro+ plan, with a price tag of $669/month, which is $416 more than the Pro+ plan.
Who Is the Teachable Business Plan for?
The Teachable Business plan caters to the needs of expanding enterprises and institutions, offering a tailored solution for their unique requirements.
Is the Teachable Business Plan Worth It?
The Enterprise plan is suitable for businesses that produce a considerable amount of educational content, whether for sale or client use. However, its high cost and limited marketing capabilities may deter many potential customers.
